Suicide vs. Christians Thoughts

This blog will be a little different as I will direct you to another site for reading and commenting purposes. A good friend of mine posed a question regarding the views on suicide from a Christian standpoint. It was inspired by the late Robin Williams and his death.

I encourage you to chime in and read the comments. I encourage you to reply with your views and answers if you have any. I do not encourage degrading comments, but thoughts said in peace and love. Who knows? Maybe you will finally gain some light on the taboo subject, SUICIDE, that many Christians often question. Rest In Peace Robin Williams. I am thankful for the laughter and artistry you brought to many in this world. I definitely am a fan and I am thankful for your work in Dead Poets Society. That movie is classic and will always be a favorite.

Decrees, Capacity... iDunno, Just Talking

This blog is straight off the mental and from the heart. I am not going to take the time to make sure the layout and grammar of this blog is proper. I say that for this reason: The flow of this piece may be all over the place. Lol. Let's Go -->

One of the things that God is developing in me right now is the link between conviction and speech. He has been revealing to me that there are times that I speak something, but my heart is far from what I am speaking. As a result, I am less likely to act on what I speak. It is easy to take on the vernacular of a Christian, but it is more challenging when you have to take on the labor of a Christian. I believe this happens because we have allowed the principle :: Speak those things that be not as though they were.. to dumb down the importance of labor. There are other reasons for lack of labor, but I want to focus on this one.

Sometimes, we as Christians can get caught up in "The Decree" - the commands and proclamation of words. We expect "The Decree" that we put in the atmosphere to shape our lifestyles solely. In no way am I saying that a decree is wrong. For the word of God says, "If you decree a thing it shall be established". However, when a decree is made it should be made in faith; faith without works is dead. What I am trying to say is: Sometimes, the decree is not an end in shaping our situations and/or our lifestyles. We can begin to speak things without putting forth the labor that is needed to bring forth the decreed thing. In other words, we can get caught up in decreeing what we want for our lives, situations, and/or our ministries without being conscious of the actions we may need to implement.

Here is an example of what I saying:

Um, let's say that you make a decree about losing weight. :: Lord, I decree that I will lose weight and be in good health.

Now... let's say that your situation is something like this: You are 70 lbs over your idea weight. The decree has been placed in the atmosphere and you have faith that it will be established on earth... that it will manifest itself to you. 

Let's say that this is your routine: You do not work out. You do not change what you eat. Your diet consists of fast foods, crazy carbs, fatty foods. You eat until you can barely breathe. You constantly buy cookies, cakes, and candy. You drink sodas and sugary drinks more than you consume water. You do not fast when God calls you to, nor have you inquired if you need to. You have not prayed about what foods you need to drop out of your daily diet. BUT... you have this faith that the decree you made will come forth despite your actions. You are expecting your words to lose weight for you. You do not implement what is needed to aid you in weight loss. You do not take advantage of the knowledge that is vastly available to help you lose weight and apply it to your situation. 

My Point: Faith without works is dead. Sometimes we can speak things, but we do not discipline ourselves to line up to what we are speaking. Sometimes, the decree or the words we are commanding are not the end to a thing. There are times when we will have to bring forth some form of action.

One thing that I desire is to BE who I say I am... I want my life to line up to what I speak. We call it integirity. This is an area in my life that I am really asking God to mature and refine. I need my convictions to respond to my words. The last thing I want is for an individual to question the integrity of who I am and whom I represent in Faith. Even more... I do not want to be denied by God in ministry because I do not possess the needed character and capacity to carry out His purpose. This brings me to the main point of my blog. I know, it took me a minute to get here... but here we go.

How can we expect God to enlarge our territory when we have a low capacity? 

I will speak in general. Not all churches or individuals will fit this criteria. I am just speaking of what I have seen in churches and in individuals (self included).

Often, I hear:

1. I want to impact our community... but there is no appetite to labor for it. I want to take the community... but we do not hit the streets to empower our neighborhoods. I want to be the church our community runs to... yet, we do not know the names of people outside of our 4 walls. We do not know where the homeless sleeps in our community nor do we know the hunger percentile we face. Yet... we want God to give us a people that we have not expanded our capacity for. How can we expect God to give us a community when we do not have the power to do what it takes to accommodate it. God is not going to give us something that we do not have the capacity to contain.  

2. We believe in One God, One Faith. We want to dismantle denominational thinking, church division and prejudices... but, we refuse to participate with other congregations we do not like or with churches that do not worship like us. I want to build unity in the Body of Christ... yet we have Pastors forbidding their members to fellowship or partake in other churches' events... We pray and decree that there will be unity, but our hearts are far from it. We have the ideal words and the perfect decrees, ... but our convictions are far from our words. How can we expect God to give us influential power and empowerment power when we do not have the capacity to receive diversity? How can we unite with others and other churches when we feel like we or our church has the "exclusive" on Christianity? That alone eradicates the capacity to receive others that worship a little different than we do.

3. I want to be a leader of many disciples, yet.. we do not know the word of God... in fact, some of us have not read His word from Gen 1:1 to Rev 22:21. I want to be a platform speaker, I want a mega ministry... but we do not take the time to listen to other people problems or fervently intercede for people. How can we be major in ministry without this word being true?: For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more. What are we doing to expand our capacity for a mantle like this?

I can go on, but I will stop here. 

I just wanted to blog about what I was feeling today. Part of this message was inspired by my pastor, Sheryl Brady. I am not name dropping; I am giving credit where it is due. Currently, I am at a church that has caused me to challenge my stance as a woman of God and my stance in the Kingdom of God. We do participate in our community and I constantly see how we are building the Kingdom. I see diversity and unity. I see the convictions of what is preached being implemented in daily life. I am grateful for that because I know what it is like to experience life as a Christian where my decrees did not provoke my convictions. I have been in congregations that have put a lot of faith in words, but because of no action... things remained dead.

If we want God to enlarge us, we must be willing to expand our capacity. We need to labor more, hunger more, and pursue more. Also, some of us need to dismantle our philosophies and the "church legacy (I built this)" mentality to enlarge our territory in the Kingdom of God. We cannot advance God's Kingdom with our own rudiments and agendas. If you want your community, labor for it. If you want unity... pursue it. You want to be a great leader... you have to KNOW God and His Heart. We must do better. I know that I must do better.

It is one thing to have faith, but it is another thing when you put works behind it. It becomes alive. Be careful not to substitute works with decrees and declares. We can talk all day in the atmosphere, but if we do not have the conviction to labor for change, growth, or discipline... we limit our capacity for greatness and success.

Disappointment Will Not Be My Lot!

Well, Hello There World...

It has been a long time since I graced you guys with thoughts that transpire to written words. I apologize for that. I know that I do have a select few that actually follow my blog and respond to my thoughts. I appreciate you guys and I want to thank you again for your time.

I could blog about so many events that transpired last year, but I am going to choose a different route today. I want to blog about a simple decree. This year, disappointment will not be my lot!

As most know, disappointment and discouragement becomes inevitable the moment a human inhales his/her first breath in this world. Life is full of them; they will surely acquaint themselves with mankind. Albeit this is something no person can avoid... it is not an end in itself. Well, in most cases. IMO, an individuals' perspective and course of action can help bring about great triumphs.

This is where my decree was birthed. Let's take a quick look. I will be short this time. *Inserts weird facey here* Lol... okay, let's go -->

What happens when you have stepped out on faith only to see that your expectations are no where visible? What happens when you lose more than you gain for a season? How do you continue to keep the perspective of achievement and victory when all you see is failure and loss? How do you not question God and His word? Why them and not me? What did I miss and what am I doing wrong?

All these questions became the rhythm of my song this last season. Ironically, I can still hear some of the cadences that mimic the sound of a dry background vocal with massive reverb. The good thing about that is... it is no longer the main vocal playing in my system (mental).

I know that God promises me an expected end and He wants me to prosper even as my soul prospers. My hope rests in His word. My faith and hope has been shaken greatly, but they have not been dismantled. I choose to see things differently. I choose to sing a new song. Instead of asking questions that show disbelief, discouragement, anger, disappointment, etc. as a root base, I will began to answer those same questions with decrees. Sometimes, we just got to stop questioning the process and answer it. (pun intended).

Yes, I still hear the background noise but I am changing the melody and lyrics of my song. This year, disappointment will not be my lot. I have the answers I need to help me stand on this decree. I look at how my God has proven Himself to me over my life and throughout ages. I can look at Job, Joseph, Leah (iLove Leah), Jesus, and the prophecies that are manifesting as we speak. God will restore, avenge, and give us the expected end we all hope for as children of God, #Victory. It may not come in the form that my human mental has transpired it to be, but it will definitely come in the form that God has designed it to be.

Edification: There are times when we will question God about what is going on in our lives. We may feel justified in asking because sometimes we follow the voice of God and it "APPEARS" as if it led us into the wrong direction. But, keep in mind that God drove Jesus into the wilderness. He led Abraham to Mount Moriah to sacrifice Isaac only to provide a ram in the bush. My point: TEST (Read Deuteronomy 8:2). Many will say, "Don't question God", but personally, I do not think it is wrong to ask questions because the effect of that could be answers. As your relationship develops with God and maturity takes its place, the questions we ask are more careful. I believe we start trusting more and decreeing. 

If you do not understand your current season and you are tired of hearing "Your blessing is around the corner" ... and it has not presented itself in years, LOL.. continue to hope in God no matter what. Faint not. Do not let our expectations on what we should have in life dismantle the faith of God in your life. He knows what is best for us and He will NOT withhold any good thing to them that walk upright before Him. Begin to create a new song of answers and not fear rooted questions. I am not saying it will be easy, but it is possible if you THINK correctly. Paradigm shift yourself into a new melody.

To End: This year, disappointment will not be my lot. A decree that can start the chorus of a new song.

I Wonder...

It's a long, unedited one... Sorry, but it's been a minute since I blog'd. Enjoy & Comment.

Where to start? Ok, so… I was on FB reading my news feed and one of my friends posted a post regarding Pastor Jamal Bryant. It dealt with him taking his daughter to the Beyonce concert. Many people voiced their thoughts as comments and I wanted to respond as well. However, I am an individual that likes to talk… a lot. Well, at least when it comes to expressing my thoughts about controversial topics.  My point, I am blogging because a simple comment would not suffice my mind process. Anyways, I decided to go look on Pastor JB’s page to read the thoughts of others. I got tired of reading. LOL. This is what I gathered from the comments I read.

Some “Christians” believed that he was wrong for going because it was not the Christian thing to do. Many believed that it showed compromise and bad decision making as a renowned leader. Some of these same Christians felt as if he was in error because he went to a concert of a “satan worshipper”.. Beyonce. Sorry, I just laughed a little with that last statement. But anyways, many proclaimed Christians did not agree with the whole idea of the concert.

On the other hand, there were many “Christians” that believed there was no wrong in him attending the event with his daughter to celebrate her sweet 16. They felt that he was just being a father and spending time with his daughter. #TurnUp Pastor JB, as a poster said… Lol. But anyways, after I read as much as I could without getting tired of the nonsense, I calculated that more Christians were against his actions than those who were okay with it.

Here is my stance:

Sometimes, we as a people really do not think before we speak. We feel like we have the right to say whatever because we are saved and we have holiness printed on our lives. However, being slow to speak should be a wisdom nugget some of us Christians need to pick up. Also, in my opinion… let me restate that again: In My Opinion… there are a lot of us Christians that feel like we got the EXCLUSIVE on the Holy Ghost and the way God wants things done. My friends, that is the wrong answer; it is a dangerous thing.

Do I feel like he was wrong for going? That’s personal. Haha. I am not going to speak on that right now. I am blogging just to bring some awareness to how we sometimes speak on things not realizing we have double standards. I did a blog on this previously; feel free to read my archives. Anyways, to the meat of my blog…. My stance.

I do not know if the man of God prayed about going to the concert nor do I know if God okay’d it. I do not believe he is less of a Christian because he attended. We all fall short of the glory of God every day. NO MAN is without sin. So, if he did go and it was wrong, I wonder how many of the opposed “Christians” prayed for the man of God before they spoke on the issue. Furthermore, the word says: Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Hmm, I wonder how many of us Christians actually took that approach before we gave our thoughts?

Now, on the double standard.

I wonder how many of the same opposed Christians have watched movies that do not glorify God. I ponder on how many TV show series some of them may watch that promote everything but God. Shall I mention Scandal, Being Mary Jane, Friends, Real Housewives of wherever… I wonder how many people watch these shows that opposed his actions? I know there are a lot of actors/actresses that does not believe in God, but I wonder if we hold the same standard when it comes to what we watch in our spare time.

Ok, off TV… let’s talk about other facets of worldly entertainment. What about the MLB, NFL, NBA, MLS, etc. I wonder how many of us watch athletes that do not promote God in any way for entertainment. How many championship series or games have we watched? Ok, off that… we can transition into the medical field. How many of us take our children to see doctors that do not believe in God. Let’s be honest, there are a lot of doctors that do not believe in Jehovah. Yet, we pay co-pays & insurance to their practices to make sure our children and ourselves stay in healthy states. Why not just quote a scripture and never see a doctor? I mean, the word of God says we are healed; yet we see other people who are of this world to help aid in remedies for physical relief.

But off that… I would love to get on the stereotype subject many Christians face. FOOD. Lol. How many restaurants do we eat at that do not promote Godly things? I mean, shall all Christians avoid restaurants that are not Chic-Fil-A? What about the clothes that we wear? How many gay designer bags do some Christian women and men (eek) have in their closets. How many pair of shoes belongs to designers that do not believe in God? Who rocks that designer? I wonder if some of these opposed Christians looked at these things before they posted their thoughts.

Basically, I am just saying… it is nothing wrong to believe what you believe, but make sure you are not living in a double standard Christianity. Do not conform your convictions to your own convenience. Ask yourself, as I am asking myself… am I any different than Pastor Jamal Bryant when it comes to choosing ways to celebrate leisure time in my life? Be honest with yourself. I know for myself, I am not. I will listen to a secular song and watch a TV series that probably has nothing to do with holiness. I will let them go as God tells me to. Some things I can no longer listen to or watch because of Thus Saith The Lord. Some things He has not convicted me of yet. God knows the heart of every man and He knows how to convict His people.

Yes, I know he pastors a mega church. What does that say to his members? I don’t know. I am not under his leadership, but if I were… I would say it showed me that he understands how to live. He is a father first… not a pastor. That is the true order. I understand the conflict of us being separate from the world and not endorsing the devil, but I also understand that you have to be in it. I am not saying compromise to touch worldly people, but understand the aspects of humanity with wisdom so that you can be touched.

We all are called to represent Christ, front line or behind the scenes. Just because we do not have a mega ministry or a little popularity does not mean we should hold our standards of living righteously any different. I am saying this because I honestly wonder how many of the opposed people feel like: Man, Scandal is just a TV show; that’s different. Taco Bell is cheap and we have to eat. It’s just a Michael Kors bag. Shoot, Kevin Hart is funny. I like watching movies with Denzel Washington. What, Act Like A Lady; Think Like A Man …that’s the truth. Hangover is just crazy comedy. My point: All these things promote some form of message that is contrary to what we stand for. Adultery, Lust, Lewdness, Drunkenness, etc. are just a few to name.

So, I say… before we start bashing the man of God for an event he choose to celebrate his daughters sweet 16, make sure we are not doing the same thing in our own lives. It is the principle behind the matter, not the situation.  Yes, he could have gone to a conference or to a gospel concert… but let’s be real: there are some things to enjoy that are not all about religion. if you watched TBN or the Word Network all day for the rest of your life, mad respect to you. But that is not I and I will not do that unless God told me to.

I think if we focus on loving one another more and quit bashing each other when someone errors, we will be able to show the world what it means to be ye separate. This walk is about love, not our philosophies and vain traditions. Love the man of God. Pray for him if you feel he was in error. I wonder how many people actually lifted him up to give him a word from God and not a word from their own convictions. THERE IS A BIG DIFFERENCE.

Edification: If we as a Body would lock in to an undying world as much as we locked into Pastor Jamal Bryant’s actions, we probably would’ve saved half of FB and twitter. Again, I wonder… I wonder how many of the ‘opposed and for’ Christians have put just as much energy into spreading the gospel to people outside of the church. How many have actually ministered to someone they do not know? Church, we have to love one another and pray for those who are in error. However, be careful that your personal convictions does not determine if someone should be on trial by their actions. Allow God to tell you in prayer when to speak on any man or woman of God and do it in order. You go to them first. He still is a man that God called and because of that, I refuse to put my mouth on him. I’ll let God do what He does best when it comes to His children… Love, correct, and uplift them.

Prophetic V'Blog

the video gives a quick explanation of what God is about to reveal to the world this particular year. often, (in the christian community) we hear the word manifestation and we interpret it as a blessing that becomes tangible in some way. there is nothing wrong with that. however, be aware that this year... manifestation includes both those who are with God and those who are against His agenda. It will be revealed. so, i say to you... make sure that you are in the will of God this year. this year is a great revealing of the remnant and those who are not in it. it will be seen in the political, corporate, educational, and religious arenas. try the word as i speak. this blog is simple, but it the ministry in it is more than simple words and rhythm. understand what God is saying for you and your family for this year. as usual, i decree blessings and the power of grace to cause you to walk in God's ways. A Quick Soliloquy

The war is in the mind, but the sacrifice is in the heart. Ask me what's my greatest war & I'll tell you "my heart". I've lost very close family members, I've battled for my health & life, I've been hurt by the church mafia, and etc... But none of these things trumps the mental war I have with my heart. It has been a crazy battle to get my desires to become God's desires and it still is. It is hard to put the word on a desire that is evident in hopes to transform it into evidence that is not seen.

Here's a truth : there are things that I want that God will never agree to. Oh but wait, let me not mention the things that I have to kill that He does not want to live. Boy of boy... that is a hard sacrifice. My mind says kill it or let it go, but my heart says... do you know the suffering you will have to walk out if  you do? Good thing is, my mind is not ignorant. LOL. I got the Holy Ghost spitting knowledge for every rebuttal my flesh tends to spit out. (Hmm, think Ima put that in a rap, haha).

Back to the subject at hand. The truth is, with the sacrifice or not... I will go through some kind of suffering period. It is part of life and the Christian walk. The word of God says: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us (2 Timothy 2:12). So, no matter how my heart feels... I have to remember to tell it what to do. Giving up what it wants (when it is contrary to God's will) presents a broken and contrite heart. Yolanda, that is what God will not despise (Ps. 51:17).

I think I'm going to end this blog here because I was venting to myself. LOL. I had to encourage myself in the Lord. No matter how hard the battle is, I must remember the truth_ the HolyGhost is living on the inside of me. He is my comforter. So, when I begin to feel the separation and suffering from the things I must sacrifice... He will bring forth comfort. If I just keep my mind on Jehovah, He will keep me in perfect peace through the war. And when I want to give in to the lust of my flesh (my emotions) the Holy Ghost always seems to whisper to me__"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul.... To live is Christ and to die is gain Yolanda". That is a guarantee KO every friggin time. LOL, but I Thank You Heavenly Father.

Exhortation in Truth: We are quick to say, Follow your heart! I do not agree with this statement. Your heart will get you into some trouble if it is not after God. I say, sacrifice it & follow the Spirit of God. Allow God to show you your heart and what you need to follow and what you need to release. For, _The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? The heart is the place of sacrifice, the mind is the battle field that will equip you to deal with such a battle.

To end this soliloquy: The war is in the mind, but the sacrifice is in the heart. Yolanda, it really is mind over matter. Walk in the renewed part of your mind, not in the part of your heart that needs to be sacrificed. That my love is destined to be a dead thing, hence the word sacrifice. Life is in the word; it is ever so alive. #TRUTH  :) ... I choose my renewed mind!

Servant Hood vs. Release pt. II

Part 2 Starts Here: John 2:1-11

Jesus’ first miracle was turning water into wine. At this event, Jesus calls his mother woman. This is not the only instance where Jesus calls his mother woman. He also calls her woman in John 19:26 (Woman, behold your son). <-- He was speaking to Mary from the cross.

…. From this point on, my blog will focus on my revelation from God. I say this because this is my personal conviction and it may not adhere to what you believe. Anyways, let’s go -->

When Jesus called Mary woman, I do not believe He disrespected his mother. Woman was like saying madam. Likewise, Jesus calls many women in the bible, woman. This does not mean he degraded who they were. The language back in the day was way different than what it is now. In my rationalizing, I believe that Jesus called Mary mother as He was growing up. I don’t believe that He called her woman all His life. I believe this because it was at the wedding that the term “woman” was first introduced when He spoke of His mother.

I also believe that Jesus served His mother as He grew up. He obeyed and did what she required of Him. He probably took out the trash, killed a couple of chickens.. lol (jk), labored where she asked Him, and etc. He was perfect, he obeyed His mother in the Lord for it was right and He honored both His father and mother. He was the word. He did it right.

So, this is where I am going with this:

Mary understood she was Jesus’ mother. She knew she had a son that loved her and would obey her words. She knew who He was and the power that He possessed. After all, she mentioned the circumstance to Him (the failing of the wine or the lack of the wine). She also told the servants to do whatsoever He would have them to do. She had expectancy for a miracle to be performed.

Now, I believe Mary got caught up in motherhood at this point. I do not believe she had a great focus on the “timing” for Jesus to reveal His glory. I believe this because Jesus says, “mine hour is not yet come”. In this same verse, He says, “Woman, what have I to do with thee? The verse reads like this :: Woman, what have I to do with thee? Mine hour is not yet come.

Jesus calls his mother woman because Mary must not think of Him as her son only. He is the Messiah and He has a work to fulfill. The revelation of who He is, The Son of God, must be revealed at the perfect time.

Now, he turned the water into wine. He still served his mother, but He had to show the release of obligation by calling her woman. Jesus understood that He was her son, but He also understood who He was and what His purpose was. The distinction and release had to be made known to the woman He grew up serving all his life.

Just like with ministry, spiritual parents cannot be so caught up on the parenthood aspect of things that they forget to pay attention to who they are actually raising. Likewise, spiritual children must be able to separate themselves for the purpose when it is appropriate. Jesus did not call her mother, but He HAD to show the separation.

We see this with parents and their children. Parents are to train up a child in the way that he/she should go. They are to release them to back to God for His purpose. But sometimes parents find it hard to let go of their children because of the investment they put into their lives. Some fear that their children will not make it in the world. Some parents are so attached to their children that they do not believe anyone else will have their best interest in mind. Some parents do not want to let go of their children because they build their lives and identity around them. The problem in all of this is that parents can miss seeing who their child was created to be because they only see who they are in their world.

Ministry leaders must look beyond who their spiritual children are in ‘their’ world and recognize who they are in ‘this’ world. You are still mom and dad when your child is living the life they were created to, even if you are not the actively involved in it. (Speaking about members leaving ministries and establishing personal ministries b/c God called them to).

Moving along… if you read the previous blog, this part will not seem foreign to you:

The problem I faced, with the ministries I attended, was … not being able to separate when the purpose called for it. I felt like this: … because I was a spiritual daughter, I had no right to say “woman” to my spiritual parents. As a result, I never identified my purpose and myself appropriately. My identity was based on who they trained me to be. The identity that said I was to serve at a ministry and not establish a separate ministry. An identity that said I was their intercessor, leader, and/or member. But the truth is, I am God’s intercessor/creation. But I was so stuck on serving my ministry that I could not recognize who He was training me outside of our world (My spiritual leaders and myself).

I had to learn how to say “woman” when it came to who I was. I had to learn how to walk in the separation of man’s ministry vs. God’s ministry. I still had/have to serve, but there must be an identification of you are outside of spiritual leaders/parents.

Let’s go to the next example: Garden of Gethsemane. Matthew 26:36-46.

Jesus takes His disciples with Him to the Garden of Gethsemane and tells them to sit here and pray. Jesus is fully aware that His hour has come to complete His purpose on earth. Here is a brief description of the text.

Jesus goes to pray. He returns to the disciples and He sees that they are all asleep. He asks them if they could keep watch with him for one hour. Jesus goes back and prays more. He then returns to His disciples a 2nd time; the disciples are still sleeping. He left them and went back to pray. The 3rd time He returned to His disciples, He said to them, “Are you still sleeping and resting…?”

Where am I going with this?

The disciples followed Jesus and served Him in ministry. They were released and taught by Him. More importantly, they were served by Jesus.

When it came to completing His purpose on earth, it was His cross to bear. He had to pray His flesh dead. The disciples were asleep. It was not their responsibility to make sure Jesus went to the cross. It was up to Him to complete His purpose. He could not rely on the people serving Him. If He had, all of mankind would be destined for hell. The disciples were knocked out and they did not understand the urgency of the moment. They did not understand the magnitude of His purpose, otherwise… they probably would have been praying and not sleeping.

Here is what I am saying: do not expect people that serve you to fulfill your purpose. It is something you must do on your own. It is no one’s responsibility to fulfill your call or bring your vision to pass. We give others that serve us things to do that will assist in our ministries, but in the end… it is your job to fulfill your purpose.

Jesus understood that. He went back to pray 3 times. He had to get Himself ready because the disciples could not help Him at that time. He had to remember why He came down to earth in the first place, to be our propitiation for sin.

This leads me to the leaders of ministries.

There are servants & members in your congregation that you disciple. Some have grown into mature Christians and powerful leaders. There are some who will remain stagnant and some that will never assist you in bringing your vision to past.

As a leader, it is a heart’s desire to have people invest in your life and ministry like you have done in theirs. It’s the reciprocity factor that we all look forward to. But, the truth is… not all people you pour into will give you something back. This is where you must continue to go back to the Garden and keep praying until you accomplish the work you were sent to do. (Just like Jesus did with the disciples).

If they never help, it is still your responsibility to complete the call. It is a cross that you must bear. You cannot give up if your congregation, or whoever, chooses not to assist you with completing the vision/purpose. God will give you the strength and ability to accomplish the call. He did that with Jesus. It is God that gave Jesus the peace to walk out of the Garden of Gethsemane for mankind.

The disciples did not help, they were all asleep. It does not mean that they did not love Him or serve Him in ministry. They did and they did works right along with Him, but for this particular purpose (taking His cross)… Jesus had to do it on His on. They did not pray Him through it, they were asleep. He prayed Himself through it. This should be encouragement to leaders that feel like they have no help. YOU CAN PRAY YOURSELF OUT OF THE GARDEN and ACCOMPLISH THE PURPOSE… even when the people you have taught is asleep. Be encouraged and keep pressing.

I’m going to end the blog with this: Servant hood is a must in the Body of Christ. However, one cannot be so focused on serving ministers and ministries that he/she forgets to serve God. We are more than someone’s protégé; we are God’s creation first. We were created to serve Him and accomplish the tasks He sent us to do. You have to identify yourself outside of leaders; you must know who you are in God and why you are here. There has to be a release.

Exhortation In Truth: To the world (and some Christians), it may seem disrespectful to identify the separation between leadership and servant hood, but there has to be a point where you begin to walk in the purpose you were created for. Release does not mean servant hood becomes void, it simply means that what you are called to do is no longer restrained. Do not get my words twisted... in no way am I saying one should abandon servant hood to ministry/leaders; I am simply saying, do not be so caught up in ministry that you forget to fulfill the GOD ordained purpose for your life. Identify who you are like Jesus did with His mother. Do not continue to let people and churches define and govern who you are and what you do for the Kingdom. Allow God to define and govern you.... I guarantee that servant hood, respect for leadership, and humility will flow appropriately.

Figuratively Speaking: There are many Juanita Bynums, TD Jakes, Joyce Meyers, Lester Sumralls, Billy Grahams, etc. I believe ‘one’ reason we do not see them in abundance is because we never identify who God created us to be on this earth. We sit in church and allow it to label us and not God. Begin to ask God, Who Am I really? Why am I created… in this dispensation? What is it that I am supposed to do that no one else can do?

To end, Heavenly Father, I pray that you will give each individual that is reading this the wisdom to walk in unity with the Body while they fulfill the personal call you gave them accomplish. I decree that they will not walk in division, but will walk in agreement with the Body of Christ… serving one God, You.. El Elyon. Open their eyes to see who You created them to be and let the purpose You have given them start to manifest with clarity from this moment on. Set fire to their feet to run the course you have set before them with no hindrances. Sever ungodly ties that hinders your Kindgom work. These things I ask and decree in Jesus name. Be Glorified, Amen.

Be encouraged and be who you were created to be by God, not mankind. Luff yahz!

Servant Hood vs. Release

Hello Lovely World!

I have not blogged in a hot minute. Sorry!

This blog will touch on some personal things that I have faced within the last year of my life. Will I get real personal? Of course not. I do not know half of you guys reading this. Lol. However, I will give surface to some things that I believe will help others gain insight to purpose. It will be a series of blogs....  meaning, THERE WILL BE OTHERS THAT FOLLOW. I will reveal the post date of my next blog at the end of this reading.

Real quick, I want to expose some light to the audience of my blog. Thank you to those who follow my blog on blogger and to those who follow and expound with comments on facebook and/or twitter. I would like to thank those of you that have taken the time to read my posts who are not followers of mine on any social network. Thanks and love to those who stop by and partake in my thoughts from around the world. As of now, this blog has had over 10,000 + views and has touched over 5 countries. Russia, France, United Kingdom, and many more. So, this is a quick shout out of gratitude to my readers and loyal followers. Now, to the blog -->

Often we live our lives trying to please people by bringing some form of satisfaction that would suffice their needs. It is seen in marriages, friendships, ministry, and other life relationships. This my friend is what I call servanthood. We serve our friends, husbands, wives, pastors, bosses, etc. because we understand that they need us in certain areas of their lives. Rather it be to run a business, church, marriage, or etc., people need people to help serve them. As we serve others, we have the ability to put our minds, hands, and feet in places that they may not be able to. This is an awesome thing, but it poses a threat. Sometimes, we can be so caught up in trying to suffice the needs of people that we become blinded to the necessity of cultivating our own needs. In addition, those whom you serve can cause you to slip into bondage because they will not release you. They may exploit your servanthood by keeping you around for selfish ambitions. I want to talk about the servanthood aspect of life more than anything. The reason why :: it is what I have been learning about the most within this last year.

As Christians, we are taught that servanthood is the greatest of all things. Well, ....outside of love. This is true. However, not often are we taught the appropriate balance for such a position. Some individuals live their lives in bondage to ministers and ministries because they do not understand "the call of release". Some will never fulfill vision and purpose because they walk in subservience and not submission. As men and women of God, we are trained that our service or obligation to ministers, positions, and ministries determines how teachable, faithful, and mature we are. This holds true, but wisdom must be exercised in all things. There are times when your season of serving for a particular ministry or minister will expire. This does not say that you lack faithfulness in servanthood or that you are immature and unteachable. It simply says that I have accomplished what God has called me to do in regards to the ministry, the position, or the individual. 

Take the release when God calls it. Do not let the mentality of "I must stay because I was called here or I grew up here" trip you up. Do not let the history of a thing (how long/short you have been serving at that ministry) determine your next season. God can call you to serve for weeks, months, or years. Whatever the time window is, serve and move on when He releases you from that obligation. When you do not take the release God calls, you put yourself in bondage. Release frees you to do other duties or take on other obligations. You cannot fulfill the next phase of your life when you are still in a place that God has called you out of, There is nothing left for Him to do there. That is why many of us do not grow or experience the "Glory to Glory" aspect of the Christian walk. Be careful not to get caught up on the people you serve, do not let your relationships bring you into subservience. Serve wisely in ALL relationships.

NOW_ do not get me wrong. I am not saying that everyone who leaves ministries and callings are in right standing. I am NOT justifying people leaving without God's release. There are people who have left ministries, callings, servanthood, etc. without God's permission. I do not justify that. I do not judge it either because I did it and I was not in right standing at that time. No matter how hard I "tried" to justify my rights for leaving (never got justified), it was not a God given release. It was wrong. But thank God for grace and mercy that allowed me to get back in position and serve until the GOD ORDAINED release came.

Anyways, back to my topic: This is about to get sticky. I think I may mess up some Super Saints psyche with this one.

Often. we neglect the ministry God calls us to because we are too busy serving others. We can get so caught up in serving others that we forget to fulfill OUR purpose as we serve. I will use myself as an example. I know that God has called me for such a time as this. I know what I am called to do, I know who I am called to, and I know where I am called to. I am still learning the depth of each because dimensions, seasons, and destinations change - so, I do not have the exclusive on it. But, from what I have learned.... I can tell you that I was at a place that hindered the advancement of my purpose and my vision. I was more faithful in being someone else's vision than being faithful in being my vision. My pastor said something that became a nugget for me. She said, "Don't let anybody write you into their vision"... .

Because of the mentality I had about servanthood, or shall I say the improper balance, I was not fulfilling my call. I was more faithful to exercise the knowledge I learned about servanthood than to exercise the call of purpose. Basically, I was a faithful servant that was ignorantly unfaithful to serving my call. As a result, I began to think that I was waiting on God. Wow!, How many people are stuck in this mindset? (rhetorical). Reread that because that is crucial. I'll just retype it :: Basically, I was a faithful servant ......  that was "ignorantly" unfaithful to serving MY call. As a result, I began to think that I was waiting on God. 

I did not understand that I had to cause some things to come forth; I did not understand the intensity of labor I had to exercise to bring my purpose forth. I had to focus on my call sometimes and that would cause me to release certain obligations I established at my church. For example: attending or participating in every church event on the church calendar. In fulfilling my purpose, I had to nurture and birth certain things. That alone required me to be more attentive to my call. So, there were certain things that I obligated myself to in servanthood that I had to release. I did not say I released servanthood, but some things God released me from. There was an improper balance. Especially, as I began to mature and walk in the call. Do you get my point? I hope so... if not, ummmm... yeah. 

I began to believe that I was waiting on God because I was taught that your leaders will call your gifts out, confirm your call, ordain you when the time was right, etc. This is not incorrect teaching, but its not complete teaching either. I am not saying my pastors taught me this, but the actions of "the church" did. I did not began to walk in what I know God was calling me to do outside of the ministry because I felt that He would have told my leaders when it was time. So, I assumed I was waiting on God for activation when He had already activated me. Now, that does NOT mean that I can just go do me without a proper covering or pop off in ministry without the proper release of my leadership. But it does mean that there are times when God will call me to do something that will not require permission from my leaders. For example: feeding the homeless, interceding outside of the church, ministering at work, etc. Are we so caught up in serving our own ministries/ministers that we forget to serve outside of the four walls? Or is that, we feel like we cannot proceed in ministry because our pastors have not given us the okay to minister to people outside of the ministry? Think about it. I am not saying go hold conferences, but everyday ministry to nonbelievers and believers should be going on outside of a church. Are we in subservience to servanthood or submission to servanthood?

NOW__ There are those pastors/leaders that will see the call in you, activate you, and then release you. Sometimes it happens like that, but what about the times when it does not? What about the times that leaders do not care about shepherding, but care for the paycheck? What about the times when leaders refuse to pray or hear God for direction? How will they know when God is ready to activate you? Yes, God can speak to them for your sake... but I'm just throwing out some serious questions. What about the leaders that activate anybody and put people in callings that they are not called to? Who's to say that ... you are in the right ministry? Maybe your Elijah is in another state Elisha. (Someone just got confirmation). Just maybe... God has called you to serve at another ministry. 

What I am saying is: You have to make sure you are in sync with God because we all are human; we can all miss the will of God. Your activation may be in your release. We cannot be so caught up in the faithfulness of serving man that we miss the call of faithfully serving God in or own purpose. As I always say, DO NOT GET ME TWISTED... servanthood is needed and should not be underestimated. It is imperative that we serve, but it is imperative that we fulfill purpose as well. Serve in your ministries until God releases you, serve the man and woman of God, & serve your leaders. The greatest among you shall be the servant. Just know the balance.

Jesus shows us a proper balance in doing both, serving while fulfilling purpose. I will expound on this in my next blog post. The 2 examples that I will speak of are: Jesus' First Miracle (Water into Wine) and the Garden of Gethsemane.

To end for now:  

Wisely decipher subservience vs. servanthood. Know when to render service unto man and when to relinquish service. Some things are not your obligation. Some things are and you may not know it yet.

If you do not understand the call for release, how does purpose become emancipated? 

That is a question that God is still giving me knowledge, wisdom, and understanding on. It is definitely something you should ponder! My next blog post will explore this --> (Mid August).

Casablanca Lily, Love

Hello World,

It has been a while since I last put my thoughts in tangible form. Well, this blog will be short. I just wanted to blog a small poem about how I feel this day. It has nothing to do with Valentines Day. I don’t need a holiday day to emphasize or express my feelings. Today, it just happens to be V-Day. But to the poem, let’s go:

Oh Love_

You are like a Casablanca Lily…
Elegance to the eye, Delicate in touch
Oh how I enjoy the array of colors that twinkles from your substance…
Even in a time of darkness…
You bloom with a refined fragrance.
Oh how rare you are.
I call you beauty even though your name is …LOVE
     - hodgest

Just Cause :: Casablanca Lily – It is a hybrid to oriental lilies. It is used in perfumes and weddings. The fragrance of the lily is breathtaking and the colors vary from white, yellow, orange and purple to pink. But out of its qualities, I chose this flower because it blooms at night!

That is how I feel today. Through all the things I have been through and the things I am currently dealing with, God still has allowed me to bloom. In my darkest seasons, God opens me up and releases the fragrance of His anointing that is on my life. He allows people to see my life and interact with me because there is something in me that attract them to me. They see beauty and sense a sense of freshness, but little do they know it is all brought forth at night. It is the Love of God that endures ALL things and finds a way to permeate into other people lives.

I have a new found confidence in who I am and a true perspective of what I am worth. The flower is expensive and rare; it is used for celebration. I and my life are to be celebrated, nothing less. ONLY because my life has to line up to what God has created me to be. I am not common; I know that I am very rare in form. I am Yolanda and there is only one me. My personality, my heart, my flaws, ME… are all unique qualities. And that alone is to be celebrated.

Exhortation: To the readers :: Don’t regret the dark nights and seasons you go through for God will bring you forth to a flourishing finish. Forget the people that will pass you by and not invest in your rarity and beauty. When the right people, with the right heart come along, they will see your worth and invest in you. People will pick you for who you are and not by what you can do for them. Your beauty alone will draw them. You deserve to be celebrated. Don’t settle for anything less anymore. So, today… I feel like a Casablanca Lily… secretly matured in nights, beautifully discovered in mornings. I feel ….LOVE.

20..11 Reflections

Hello followers and viewers! Yes, hello world...

this post deals with 2011 and the transition into 2012. i know this may seem as if… im into the new years hype stuff, but im really not... so, give this post a chance before you leave the page. i want to touch on 11 things to reflect upon from the year 2011. cliché huh?, haha. anyways_ let's go-->

over the calendar year of 2011, i have heard: praises, murmurs, complaints, convictions, and exhortations about life. many that have come from myself, those in my inner circle, colleagues, and everyday people that i just happen to converse with. in thorough conversation and moderate conversation_ i have found that many of us FORGET the blessings that we are given EVERYDAY and we REMEMBER the hardships and pains we had to endure throughout the course of the year.

often, we complain about how hard life is and what has happened in our lives. we feel like we are the only ones that are going through seasons of endurance, hurt, persecution, abandonment, rejection, and so the like. if not careful, one will fall into a self-pity mode or the "victim" mode. for instance: my job doesn't pay me enough (at least you have a job), my kids don't respect me (at least they are not dead), my church family is against me (at least you are saved), my friends betrayed me (thank God for revealing who is truly for you), why am i the only one who gets done wrong (might i mention Jesus_ who was the ONLY blameless one and He was done wrong), and etc. 

though these things may be so, i am reminded that God says think on things that are true, honest, pure, lovely, just, of good report.. if there be any virtue or praise.. think on “these” things (paraphrased Philippians 4:8). why do we soooooo focus on the things that will hinder praise; things that we can't give a praise report on. if victory is in your praise, then why keep thinking on things that will not bring forth praise. you have to choose what you will think on.

life is hard for everyone. i truly believe we don’t grasp that because we feel like we are the only ones that go through the pains of life. NO.... everyone has to walk out life. PERIOD. saved or not, people have to walk out life and that is not easy for anyone. everyone has been hurt at some point, lied on, rejected, misused, mistreated, disrespected, etc. (all common denominators for all humankind) _life!

but let's get into my 11 suggestions of reflection-->

Number 1: it’s so basic: Reflect Upon God’s Love. (John 3:16_ for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…). God loved us first, we did not love Him first. He sacrificed His only Son for a people that did not choose Him first. (1 John 4: 9-10_In this... the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. ¹⁰ In this... is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.). He made a way for us to be saved so that we can escape an eternity of damnation. He loved us for us.

i know some people felt unloved and felt as if no one cared about them in this past year (and previous years), but you cant forget that God loves you without conditions. while we were yet sinners, Jesus died for us. people can put conditions on love and this will hurt you if you don’t measure up to their expected conditions. even if you feel like no one cares and you are alone, you must remember that God is always there and He loves us unconditionally. BUT don’t get it twisted, God does not love our sin(s), but He loves us. He is willing to accept a sinner and a backslider with repentance. He opens His arms and welcomes us home. He heals our emotions and provides comfort when we have lost things. in spite of ourselves and shortcomings, He loves us enough to give us a new mercy every morning we wake up. this leads me to #2.

Number 2: Reflect Upon The Mercies of God. (Lamentations 3:22-23_ it is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. they are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.) that alone is something to be grateful for. it is a new day and you are alive. you have another opportunity to make better... certain things in your life. for those of you who do not know Jesus as your Lord & Savior, you have the chance to accept Him before it is too late. today is another mercy to get your life right! to those who are saved and may be off course, you have another day to get back in right standing if you have backslidden. and to those of you who are in right standing, you have another day to bless God and bring someone else into the family. bottom line: God didn’t call you home in 2011. you are still here to experience another day of life. you did not and you do not… have to die miserable or hopeless. 2011 may have brought serious attacks in your emotional, mental, spiritual, or physical life… but God has kept you breathing and the enemy did not take you out. #mercies.

Number 3: Reflect Upon God’s Forgiveness. now, you know that you did not do everything that God required of you this past year. shoot, i know that i did not. if you have had to repent for anything, you fit in this category. God is awesome b/c He will forgive us our sins.

(generally speaking): there are times when we complain about our lives, we have moments of unforgiveness, we lie, we do not pay our tithes, we commit sins of omission and commission, we gossip, we over eat, we hate, we walk in division, etc…and we can confess our sins and God forgives us for those sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9) .. yet, we find ways to complain about how people unjustly offend us, hurt us, steal from us, use us, and etc. if you truly think about God’s forgiveness for YOU.. i guarantee you that.. you will see that 2011 was not as bad as you thought it was when it comes to people and the process of your Christian or life walk. God does not change like people, He remains the same and He is faithful to forgive. OH, how awesome it is to reflect upon God’s forgiveness. #WeMustForgive!

Number 4: (Deuteronomy 7:9_ Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commands). Reflect Upon God’s Faithfulness. even when we are not faithful in our service unto Him, He still remains faithful. He’s a covenant God. (Gosh, i luff that). He still will perform His word concerning us. Isaiah 46:11 states (paraphrased): what God has said, that He will bring about and what He has planned, He will do it. 

know ye not that no man is perfect in his service unto God. we all fall short of His glory everyday. throughout our lives, we have seen man fail us in some way. im almost sure that it will happen again. man has disappointed us and im almost sure it will happen again. friends and families have discouraged us.. those that we trust and expect to be faithful to us. but if we “ourselves” have been unfaithful to God in some areas (prayer, word study, answering the call, witnessing, speaking a word, obedience, etc.) then how much more should we expect another “human” to be 100% perfect in this area. we have to see 2011 as a year that God was faithful to us in lieu of man.

Number 5: self-examination is critical. Reflect Upon Your Yourself. why do we always see when everyone else is doing wrong? how often do we check ourselves with no justifications? it is always good to see you. see if you were your issue for 2011 or someone else’s issue. what did you do for others? did you offend others? did you settle offenses? did you sow seeds? did you rob God by not paying tithes? are you in your situation because of the choices you made? are you not further in life because of laziness and/or fear? did you do what God told you to do? are you where God told you to be? do you show forth Godly love in abundance? have you won a soul…. at all…. for Christ? what could you have done better to avoid repetitive failures? a lot to think about huh? lastly, but not limited to, do you whole heartily serve God with your lifestyle? think pon’ dat!

Number 6: Reflect Upon Happy Moments. (Prov 17:22_ a cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person's strength). think about the times you laughed. think on the things that made you feel grand and loved. think about how you made someone else’s day or how you brought a smile forth in dark situations and others were strengthened or encouraged. be happy... just smile and be merry as the ball drops at midnight into 2012.

Number 7: to those that have lost loved ones (im included).. Reflect Upon The Ability To Have Memories. some parents do not have the opportunity to have a memory of their child(ren) because they miscarried, aborted, or had a stillborn. some people can’t even get pregnant. some children are orphans and will never know who their parents or siblings are (to those who have lost parents). some people never had a holiday with family members. some of you have had the ability to see your children grow or have had conversations with your parents. some spouses have had the ability to know what it feels like to be loved by your spiritual mate or to even have a child by him/her (talking deceased spouses that had kids). i know lost is crucial and it is something that is hard to deal with at times, but reflect upon the memories and thank God you were able to create them because some people never came and will never come across that opportunity. in all things, you can be grateful. choose to think on the good report.

Number 8: Reflect Upon The Pace Of Time. time is ever so passing away. often, we believe that we have time to make changes in our lives and "get it right" with God. Jesus is coming back. to many, this may be mad cliché…but to the elect, we know that is is not. no man knows the day or the hour that our Lord Savior Jesus Christ will appear. (Mark 13:32_ no one knows when that day or hour will come. even the angels in heaven and the Son don't know. ONLY the Father knows). there has been many false prophets and prophecies proclaiming the day of the Lord will be on certain dates, let’s not forget the whole may 21^st false prophecy of 2011.

my point is simple, the time is NOW to get your life right… another day is not promised to any of us. many of us don't believe that God can take His breath tonight or tomorrow. it's like we ignorantly think we control the breath of God in us. that is scary! many of us do not fear God because we live like "God will not call me yet". young people are dying everyday just as quick as elder people.. if not quicker. age has nothing to do with death. God controls His breath.  time is relevant. everyday we wake up, we are a day closer to our death/rapture (whatever day God calls).. that is truth. Fulfill purpose and do what it is you were created to do. (John 9:4_ We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work).

Number 9: Reflect Upon Someone Else’s Blessings. rejoice with those that are blessed. thank God that He blessed someone else. bless God for giving someone salvation or a breakthrough. thank Him for giving someone a family, food, or shelter, etc. bless Him for marriages, graduations, new businesses, etc. appreciate Him for using His Saints to heal people, perform miracles, speak His word, sing, dance, & etc. 


don't get caught up on you all the time. that is so selfish. i do not like it when people always make the situation at hand about them. ugh! lol.. you got issues if you can't rejoice or celebrate with others because you are so focused on your trials or problems. mahn, #GitOuttaHea wit dat nonsense. _bless God for someone else's blessing(s). rejoice with others just as you would like others to be happy and rejoice with you.

Number 10: Reflect Upon Your God. who do you serve? the God i serve is Jehovah, the I AM. just to think about Him being my God is awesome. i could be serving some false god with no power or promise of salvation. i could be an atheist. i could be unprotected because the blood covers God’s children. man, so much to think about when i start thinking about my God. He kept me in 2011, He provided for me, He opened up doors for me, He elevated me, He revealed more of Himself to me, He taught me, He led me, He is a covenant God, His thoughts towards me are good and not evil, He perfects the very things that concern me, He loves me, He proves Himself strong on my behalf, He is peace, He is my strength, His grace is sufficient, He got a place prepared for me, He's coming back for me, He …
